What is scabies?
There are presently more than 300 million scabies infected individuals worldwide. Scabies is a skin infestation caused by microscopic mites called Sarcoptes scabies that live on the outer layer of the skin. The mites burrow and lay eggs on the skin which leads to the infestation in the form of red, itchy rash. The scabies rash spread fast causes extreme irritation and can happen anywhere on the body. Moreover, scabies is contagious implying it passes from one person to another in case of direct contact or close communication.
New remedies for scabies are being invented. At the same time the scabies mites are equally becoming resistant and adapting to existing traditional treatments explains a research report of Menzies School of Medicine in Darwin, Australia. This leads to the need of new ways of scabies treatments that can eradicate the mites from skin and stop them from spreading all around. The treatment should also work on common skin problems like irritation, redness and dryness.
